E-Governance
In
order to bring in speed and
transparency of business,
computerization of the major
activities of the Corporation
was necessary. In fact, IDCO
started its computerization
activities as early as 1997 with
the help of MECON. In the year
2004, integrated software has
been developed through an
external agency on Oracle
platform covering most of the
functional activities of the
Corporation. The IT
infrastructure also grew in size
during these years. In the year
2008, IDCO engaged Dr. Gopal
Nayak, Director, IIIT as the IT
Consultant and entered into an
agreement with IIIT for complete
IT enablement of the
Corporation. Under the guidance
of the IT Consultant,
up-gradation of the IT
infrastructure as well as
technology up-gradation has been
taken up. As of now, the
following systems have been
developed and are in use for the
day to day functioning of the
Corporation.
1. Centralized Database
Management
A Centralized Database
Management through Remote
Desktop Protocol (RDP)
connecting all the Divisions
with the Head Office has been
developed. Through this system,
all the Divisions can remotely
access the Database Server
located at Head Office for
Financial Accounts Management,
Salary, Gratuity & Provident
Fund etc.
2. Virtual Private Network
In order to achieve more safety
and speed in transfer of data, A
VPN network has been established
connecting the Divisions with
the Head Office.
3. Virtualization Technology
For ease in management and to
save on IT hardware cost,
virtual host servers have been
introduced.
4. e-Procurement
In order to bring in
transparency in the tendering
process, e-Tendering system has
been introduced in IDCO. All the
tenders above Rs. 50,000,00.00
are put to e-Tendering.
5. e-Despatch
The conventional method of
dispatching letters has been
discontinued and in its place e-Despatch
System has been introduced.
6. Project Management System
Facility has been created for
Planning & Monitoring of major
construction projects using
Primavera.
7. Land Management System
Software has been developed for
management of Land Acquisition
and Land Alienation, which can
be remotely accessed by the Land
Officers.
8. Geographic Information
System (GIS)
A GIS wing has been created in
IDCO with technical assistance
from OCAC for digitization of
land maps.
9. Web-enabled ID Management
System
A web-enabled ID Management
system using Oracle platform has
been developed.
10. Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP)
There is a proposal to introduce
a complete ERP Solution covering
all the functional activities of
the Corporation.
The Corporation has its own
hardware and network maintenance
system.
